The Bureau Of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has started implementing a three-month prohibition on certain fishing activities in the Visayan Sea. BFAR Regional Director for Western Visayas (BFAR-6) Remia Aparri said the prohibition of gathering of sardines, mackerel and herring started last November 17 and will last until February 2016. During the ceremonial kick-off of the ban in Estancia town in Northern Iloilo, Aparri said the three-month prohibition allows said fish species to reproduce in the 10,000-square kilometer body water.
