Agriculture Undersecretary for Fisheries Cesar Drilon has enjoined Ilonggos, particularly those in the first district of this province, to protect the kapis shells in their coastal waters. Drilon aired the appeal during a recent dialogue with fisherfolk on the protection of the breeding sites of kapis shells, locally known as "lampirong," in barangay Namucon, this town. Namucon is one of the four breeding sites of kapis shells in Iloilo's first district, which encompasses the towns of Tigbauan, Oton and Guimbal.
