Agriculture Undersecretary for Fisheries Cesar Drilon has urged Ilonggos, particularly those in the first district of this province, to protect the Kapis shells in their coastal waters and revive the once prosperous industry. Drilon aired the appeal during a recent dialogue with fishermen for the protection of breeding sites of Kapis shells, locally known as "lampirong," in barangay Namucon, this town. Namucon is one of the four breeding sites of Kapis shells in Iloilo's first district, which encompasses the towns of Tigbauan, Oton, and Guimbal.en
