The municipality of Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental won the top place for the 2018 Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) Search for the Most Outstanding Coastal Community in Western Visayas and bagged P2 million worth of fisheries livelihood projects. Adjudged second to Hinoba-an was the municipality of San Joaquin, Iloilo, and third was the municipality of Culasi, Antique that took home P1 million and P500,000 worth of livelihood projects, respectively. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) VI Regional Director Remia Aparri handed over the checks and plaques to representatives of the winning local government units at the program held during the regional celebration of the 56th Fish Conservation Week on September 17 here.
