The National Institute of Fisheries and Technology Development Center of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (NIFTCD- BFAR) has declared that the only government hatchery that produces "Pompano" (marine fishes in the Trachinotus genus of the Carangidae family(better known as "Jack" ) in the country can be found in this town, as Dr. Wesley Rosario, said here, on Saturday. Rosario and NIFTDC team conducted training to almost 300 fish farmers in the province coming from the coastal towns, engage in cage fishing and aquaculture. Quezon is very strategic place because it is very near to Manila, and since Manila is the number 1 market of fishes and seafoods it is much cheaper in transportation compare to coming from Davao and Iloilo, he added.
