The Philippines Army's recruited Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) will spearhead the planting of around 20,000 coral reefs off the coastal area in Barangay Saysain, this town after the Department of Science and Technology also supported the project. Lt. Col. Gilmar Galicia, newly-designated Commanding Officer of the army's 70th CAFGU battalion, and CO of the 24th Infantry Battalion told this correspondent that the DOST provided them with scuba diving gadgets and diving mask, saying all is set for their plan to propagate coral reef along the coastal areas here. Galicia said this is part of their contribution to the national government's environment program with the pledge jointly by the Phil Army and PNP to pursue the environmental project.
