King crab: the mud crab industry can grow bigger with research and development

Big problems as well as bright prospects are confronting the country's mud crab producers today. This we learned when we attended the First National Mud Crab Congress in Iloilo City under the auspices of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) and UPV Visayas. But there is another silver lining on the horizon. In the 20 years of continuous mud crab research, the scientists of SEAFDEC-AQD and UP Visayas have been coming up with technologies that could boost mud crab production.
