The most recent incident happened in Baja de Masinloc (or what is generally known as Scarborough or Panatag Shoal) where three Chinese Coast Guard ships have been deployed for the sole purpose of harassing the local fisherfolk. Since 2014, the territory has been placed under the Western Command which was quite explicit in telling the residents to assert their fishing rights. It will be remembered that it was here where Chinese Coast Guards had sprayed the fishermen with water cannons. Instead of being discouraged, the latter responded by saying that only bullets could drive them away.en
