Some 10,000 participants responded to the call to help protect marine environment and actively took part in the annual International Coastal Cleanup Day along the Manila Bay shoreline. The volunteers, armed with gloves, sticks, rakes, and garbage disposal bags, hauled away mounds of rubbish which accumulated in the area. The so-called eco-warriors collected thousands of plastic bags of garbage littering the shorelines.
