The creation of the Highly Urbanized City Agricultural and Fishery Council of Iloilo City (HUCAFC-IC) will help spur the agriculture and the fisheries sectors of the city. The council was created through an ordinance authored by Councilor Jose Efrain G. Treñas III. The council members include the chairpersons and coordinators of Barangay Agricultural and Fisheries Councils (BAFCs) and representatives from the business community, non-government organizations and civil society, among others. The business sector is a vital cog of the council as it can help provide good markets for the agricultural produce of the farmers and fisherfolks, as well as in their financial needs to sustain their production and marketing activities.en
