Japanese authorities on Saturday temporarily suspended their search for dozens of missing sailors from a cargo ship that sank in a typhoon, as waves and strong wind caused by an approaching storm hampered the operation. This developed as two Filipino survivors from the ill-fated cargo ship have already contacted their respective families, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday. The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka confirmed that the search and rescue operations were halted.
