The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and partner agencies have launched on Wednesday a milkfish aqua feeds research center in Guiuan, Eastern Samar to address the high cost of commercial feeds for the country’s most culture fish. The project seeks to develop locally-made, sustainable, and low-cost feeds from plant-based proteins and invasive alien species to produce aqua feeds, BFAR regional director Juan Albaladejo said. The project is in partnership with the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC).en
