Agriculture and fishery officials here said the establishment of the biotechnology laboratory here is an "uplifting news" in the aquaculture industry amidst the global gloom spawned by the crisis in the Middle East. The laboratory, built at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD), was turned over yesterday by the officials of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the agriculture secretary Luis Lorenzo and SEAFDEC AQD's chief Rolando Platon.
