While it cannot be denied that aquaculture production in Southeast Asia contributed a significant portion to the world supply in the last ten years, it came with a heavy toll - prevalence of infectious diseases. It was largely due to the unregulated aquaculture development which continue to threaten the industry. Vibriosis, for example, continues to be a major problem in shrimp production. And a similar pattern is slowly manifesting in the emerging marine fish aquaculture.
