Lianga Bay shellfish positive for red tide, public told
Excerpt
The public is being warned against eating shellfish collected from Lianga Bay in the Pacific Ocean facing province of Surigao del Sur, as these have tested positive for red tide toxins. In the latest bulletin issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on June 11, 2019, the agency said water samples collected from Lianga Bay are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit. Thus, the shellfish caught from the area are not fit for human consumption.
