After the successful implementation of the fisheries technology caravan (FTC) in Southern Philippines last year, the pool of fisheries experts from the Southern Philippines last year, the pool of fisheries experts from the Southern Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec), Bureau of Fisheries (BFAR) and the Philippine Council for Aquatic Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD) is now heading towards the Northern Philippines. The FTC carries the theme "Aquaculture for rural development". The theme as Agriculture Secretary Leonardo Montemayor puts it aptly to achieve - not only to eventually increase aquaculture production, but more importantly, to place the people the focal point to alleviate poverty and provide livelihood in the countryside.
