A three-month ban on "galunggong" (round scad) fishing in north eastern Palwan starting Nov. 15 will be implemented by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala announced that the National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council has approved the "closed season" for galunggong in northeastern Palawan, which will start on Nov. 15 and last for three months. Alcala also issued a reminder on the use of "hulbot-hulbot," a Danish Seine fishing gear, as well as collecting and exporting elvers, sargassum and corals which are prohibited.
