SEAFDEC is an international research institution with aquaculture department based at Tigbauan, Iloilo. Dr. Yap was in the city to see the 400-hectare Basey Mariculture Zone at the San Juanico Strait. He was given a tour around the more than 100 fish cages at Aninipot Island and Tinaogan area by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) mariculture consultant Peck Orbeta.
