Tacloban City - "Research should not end in the writing of technical report, but in the actual implementation of the technology," said Dr. Fred Yap, chief of Research Division of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) during his visit here on July 21, 2005. SEAFDEC is an international research institution with aquaculture department based at Tigbauan, Iloilo. Dr. Yap was in the city to see the 400-hectare Basey Mariculture Zone at the San Juanico Strait. He was given a tour around the more than 100 fish cages at Aninipot Island and Tinaogan area by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) mariculture consultant Peck Orbeta. He met with some of the fish cage locators in the area.
