The abolition of all these positions which affected more than 180 employees here - was approved by the SEAFDEC Council based in Bangkok, Thailand, and the Philippines government following recommendations of a committee tasked to streamline the operation of the international fisheries research center. Center chief Rolando Platon was recommended by the Philippine government and re-appointed by the SEAFDEC Council last April 2004 for his fifth term of two years.en
