Tighter rules vs 'hulbot-hulbot' fishing out
Excerpt
Coastal municipalities in Western Visayas can expect a more intensified campaign against “hulbot-hulbot” fishing with the signing of the amended Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) 246 which bans Danish Seines and Modified Danish Seine in Philippine waters. Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol signed the order on July 5, 2018. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-6 Regional Director Remia Aparri urged local government units and other partnering agencies to help monitor violators of the order.
