The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) recently launched its seabass satellite hatchery in Barangay Caano, Kalibo, Aklan. The P1.5-million facility is equipped with an office, artemia laboratory, larval-rearing tanks, chlorella tanks and filtration tank and water reservoir. The hatchery's establishment is expected to address the problem as BFAR has formed a linkage with the National Integrated Fisheries Development Technology Center (NIFDTC) based in Dagupan City and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo to provide technical assistance in the production and marketing operations.
