Local residents found a sunfish beached on the shores of Brgy. Kirayan Norte, Miag-ao town yesterday morning. According to PO1 Maricel Celestial of Miag-ao police station, residents and personnel from the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV -CFOS) tried to push the creature back to sea but it kept on "crawling" back to shore. This was not the first time that a sunfish beached in Iloilo. In November 2005, a crew of a pump boat plying the Guimaras Strait stumbled upon a sunfish. It eventually died and was taken to the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) in Tigbauan town.en
