The report clarified that 216 persons were saved, 29 perished, and seven were missing, bringing to 252 the total number of people affected. The regulatory documents of the ill-fated MV Lady Mary Joy 3, which was razed by fire on Wednesday night killing more than 30 passengers, are pertinent and legal, according to the Philippine Coast Guard on Friday. Quoting from the official report on Friday of Commodore Rejard Marfe, commander of PCG District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region on Muslim Mindanao, rescue and retrieval operations were ongoing to locate seven passengers missing after the fire that engulfed the ferry while it traversed the waters off Baluk-Baluk Island, Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan.
