On Wednesday, the BFAR issued Fisheries Administrative Order No. 245-series of 2015, requiring the installation of vessel monitoring systems (VMS) on tuna fishing vessels. The specified equipment was not required under the previous BFAR order issued in 2010 which solely covers the tuna industry, although the agency in 2012 issued general rules about VMS installation in all fishing and support vessels.en
