The country's fisheries sector is under constant threat due to the illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUUF) that the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is aware of. BFAR Chief of the Conservation and Environmental Protection Rommel Adolf Diciano said that IUUF undermines the delicate balance of marine ecosystems, depletes fish stocks and jeopardizes the future of coastal communities.
