Council, BFAR backed PAP imports from ASF-hit nations
Excerpt
The importation of processed animal protein (PAP) of pork from countries with confirmed outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) was endorsed by various sectors, including the high-level National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (NFARMC), government documents showed. NFARMC, the highest-policy making body on the country’s fisheries and aquaculture industries, formally endorsed the importation of porcine PAP in April to prevent the rise in feed costs that would be detrimental to domestic fish production.
