Nationwide fish farm productivity remains subpar due to the lack of quality feed and fingerlings, industry stakeholders claimed. Speaking at a bi-monthly media briefing on August 22 organized by the food security advocacy group Tugon Kabuhayan, former Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) director Asis Perez said that "due to the low quality of feeds, Filipino favorites like bangus (milkfish) and tilapia that are grown in fish farms now need more feeds to grow to marketable sizes."
