The Aquaculture Department of the SEAFDEC has developed four new techniques to help solve the problem of milkfish fry shortage: including wild and captivity; rearing milkfish larvae to fry at survival rates of up to 70%; rearing juvenile milkfish to maturity in 3 1⁄2 -5 years by giving a high protein (42%) diet; and storing or holding milkfish fry for 14 days without aeration and transporting fry at lower temperature and salinity with survival rates of more than 90%.
