The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region 8 (DENR-8) reported over the weekend that the P38 million Leyte Gulf mangrove and beach forest plantation rehabilitation project has already been completed. DENR-8 Regional director Leonardo Sibbaluca told reporters that the completed project included the planting of mangroves in the total of 1,544 hectares and delineated 406 kilometers of no-build-zone areas here. Sibbaluca said the project planted over 1.5 million seedlings of various mangrove and beach forest species.
