Recognizing the importance of hatchery-bred fry, the national government, through the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center–Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD), has, for years, been conducting a research and development (R&D) program aimed at developing its production technology. Largely as a result of this program, a fledgling hatchery-bred fry industry currently exists. So far, however, its production is still too low and inconsistent to register a significant impact on total fry production.en
