The affair was held at the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute (UPMSI) with "Philippine Marine Sceicne - Facing the Challenges of the New Millenium" as its theme. Some 300 participants from 76 academic and private institutions, government, NGOs and the private industry attended the scientific gathering.en
