A noted marine scientist has been elected president of the Philippine Association of Marine Science (PAMS). To lead PAMS in the new millennium is Dr. Jurgenne Primavera, senior scientist of the government-hosted Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
