Best Alternatives, VB consultancy highlight dangers of farming foreign fish
Excerpt
As a sprawling outdoor destination, the Marikina River remains one of the few places left for Metro Manila's citizens to commune with nature during this pandemic. After the recent monsoon rains, dozens of people were seen trying their luck at fishing, as fish from the floating farms of Laguna Lake sometimes escape and swim down the Marikina and Pasig Rivers. Some 20 years ago, Marikina River teemed with the bottom-dwelling gobies called biya, spear-shaped halfbeaks called kasuswit, climbing perch called martiniko, colorful gouramis and other species.
