A number pf projects that aim to boost the aquaculture industry in central Philippines are now being implemented. These are being undertaken by government and private institutions and entities with the technical backstopping of the government-hosted Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo. The projects include the establishment of a Technology Promotion Center (TPC) for Western Visayas; establishment of a demonstration and training facility in Concepcion, Iloilo; establishment and operation of a fish hatchery in Western Samar; community-based coastal resource management (CRM) in Catbalogan, Western Samar; and R&D project in Sustainable Aquaculture and Coastal Resource Management in Aklan.
