The regional office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) here and the Hinatuan government are joining hands to protect Surigao del Sur’s top tourist destination – the Enchanted River. The DOT and LGU of Hinatuan have instituted a program for Enchanted River to save it from destruction and degradation. To protect Enchanted River, the DOT Caraga Region 13 and LGU of Hinatuan are now working with the Regional Eco-Tourism Committee chaired by the DOT, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), to come out with a comprehensive plan to protect and further develop the river.
