    Excerpt
The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) here hastened the promotion of an "environment-friendly shrimp grow-out technology" in an effort to prevent the virtual collapse of the shrimp industry. This, after the Philippine was not able to make it to the world's top ten countries in terms of shrimp production. SEAFDEC Technology Verification Section Head Dan D. Baliao said the high export demand and its very high market value prompted local producers to intensify their production.
