    Excerpt
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has focused attention on the small fishermen of Taal Lake in Batangas, as it introduced a solar-powered fisher dryer for their use and improved their livelihood. Through the DOST-Regional Office IV-A, the fish dryer reached the fishermen who make their living through catching “tawilis” and “biya” inside the Taal Lake Protected Area during the agency's 52nd anniversary celebration at the Taal Lake Convention Center (TLCC) in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas, recently. DOST expects the fish dryer to improve the fishermen's product quality and production process, and generate better livelihood opportunities for them.
