    Excerpt
The local seaweed industry is pushing for an export subsidy similar to Chinese farmers' 13.5 percent subsidy support from the government which has enabled China to keep increasing its employment and keep a highly competitive seaweed cost that displaces Philippines' seaweed export in the world market. The Philippine Seaweed Industry Association (PSIA) is pushing an export subsidy that will keep Philippine seaweed export competitive over the long term against the increasing production and export of its neighbors.
