    Excerpt
The fisheries sector in Western Visayas is not affected by the El Niño phenomenon causing long dry spell in some parts of the country. Director Drusila Bayate of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Region 6 said that their assessment of the dry spell shows no damage to the fisheries sector in the region. But despite the prevailing scenario, BFAR-6 has been preparing mitigating measures by identifying vulnerable fishing areas in Western Visayas likely to be affected if the dry spell continues to woorsen.
