Seaweed farmers in the island town of Caluya were recently trained on improving the quality and productivity of dried seaweeds. "We hope to upgrade the quality of dried seaweeds produced by local farmers in Caluya so they can demand a much higher price in the market," said Jose Divinagracia, director of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique. Caluya is one of the areas in the country considered as a major producer of seaweeds, locally known as tambalang, due to its distinct location and vast shorelines conducive to seaweed farming.en
