Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the Adopt-an Estero Program under the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. The partnership, valid and effective for five years, was brought about by President Duterte's call for the need to launch integrated efforts to clean and rehabilitate Manila Bay as well as the inland waters that eventually drain into Manila Bay. MPIC and Maynilad recognized the deteriorated condition of most of the water bodies in Metro Manila and understood that the communities, even with government's help, can no longer address this issue effectively without help from others.
