    Farmers and fisherfolk in Negros Occidental have suffered PHP124.264 million in production losses due to the dry spell, pests, and plant diseases in the first five months of this year. A progress report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) submitted to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. on Thursday showed those affected are rice and corn farmers, and tilapia and bangus growers. In the rice sector, affected farmers in 21 local government units incurred a total of PHP94.018 million in losses during the period covering January 1 to May 27.
