    The province of Agricultural research and Planning Division noted that the seaweeds will become a potential agricultural product for Oriental Mindoro after Barangay Balatasan here is now known as the center of seaweed production. " the village is marine protected area in the province, and the seaweed is now an emerging main source of the villagers' livelihood," said Marilyn Alcañices, chief of the agri-research planning division. Provincial Agriculture Office records showed that seaweed area covers about 19,800 square meters in Barangay Balatasan.
