The Department of Agriculture (DA-6) recently honored outstanding farmers and fishermen in Western Visayas. In particularly, five individuals and three organizations were 2013's Regional Gawad Saka awardees. The Gawad Saka, according to DA-6 regional director Larry Nacionales, "showcases the achievements and success stories of enterprising farmers and fishers who have boosted their harvest or catch through the use of modern technologies."
