Foodies swear that nothing beats the taste of authentic "Bonuan bangus," a milkfish variety grown only in Dagupan City - the so-called "Bangus Capital of the World" - and soon an island not far away in Pangasinan is poised to take the title "Danggit Capital of the Philippines." Indeed, something "fishy" is going on in Pangasinan and the local governments, coastal communities, and other stakeholders are working together to keep it going to fuel the local economy. With the drop in prices of bangus over the past three years, Dagupan pushed the panic button and sought the help of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in finding a way to protect the quality and pricing of the home-grown milkfish.en
