The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has earmarked ₱1.7 billion for the residents of Cordova, Cebu who were severely affected by the oil spill caused by the sinking of "M/V St. Thomas Aquinas" two weeks ago. BFAR Assistant Regional Director Allan Poquita said the budget will be divided into three parts wherein the initial release will be used to plant mangroves in a 500 hectare area.
