DENR Regional Director for Eastern Visayas Leonardo Sibbaluca told reporters that during the recent visit of DENR Secretary Gina Lopez to this city, she instructed him “to evaluate and assess all areas in Eastern Visayas and plant with mangrove species all areas that are suitable for mangrove planting.” In April last year the DENR launched the P380-million Eastern Visayas mangrove and beach forest rehabilitation project with the target of 13,500 hectares of mangrove and beach forest areas.en
