    Excerpt
Commercial fishing firms in Misamis Oriental are set to appeal to Congress to introduce amendments to the country’s Fisheries Code. Commercial Fishing Association of Misamis Oriental (CFAMO) President Carlitos A. Baculio said his group is finalizing the contents of the petition, which they will personally hand-carry to the Lower House and before the two representatives of the province, Peter M. Unabia and Juliette T. Uy, once Congress resumes sessions tomorrow. It was learned that the Fisheries Code of 1998 was repealed last year, now known as Republic Act No. 10654, to include banning commercial fishing companies from operating 15 kilometers from the coastline.
