Aquaculture technologies are developing fishfarming communities in central Philippines. Such technologies are being transferred to fisherfolk and government instrumentalities. Among those actively implementing a technology verification and transfer program on Aquaculture is the government-hosted Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) based here. Over the past few years, the SEAFDEC AQD, headed by Dr. Rolando R. Platon, has been implementing a technology verification project which focuses on the viability of a technology on the fisher-farmer's level before it is transferred.
